Masjid Al-Firdaus Foresta in BSD City had its first stone laid on April 6 2014. This followed a long struggle to get permission from BSD. The mosque was officially opened on Sunday June 7 2015. The honor was done by the Regent of Tangerang, Mr. A. Zaki Iskandar.
Masjid Al-Firdaus is more than just a place of worship. It’s a hub for the community. The mosque offers various services. These include religious guidance. It also offers Al-Quran reading lessons.
The Masjid Al-Firdaus also has several divisions. These divisions oversee various important aspects of community life. There is a division for worship and preaching. There are divisions that oversee Islamic holidays. Some divisions manage facilities. Others support social activities. There are divisions for women, education and youth. The mosque also manages alms, donations and endowments. A division handles communication and information. There is also a bereavement division.
Masjid Al-Firdaus strives to serve the community in every way possible. It offers services for births and funerals. It also accepts alms, donations and endowments. The mosque also provides guidance for learning to read the Al-Quran.
While Masjid Al-Firdaus may not be the largest mosque in Jakarta, it is significant. The Istiqlal Mosque is the largest in Southeast Asia. Istiqlal means independence in Arabic. Istiqlal Mosque was designed by a Christian architect named Frederich Silaban. Its design blends modern and traditional styles. It features a massive central dome. Inside is a grand prayer hall. It can accommodate over 120000 worshipers. The Istiqlal Mosque also houses a collection of old Quranic manuscripts.
