Is this holy ground? You might ask yourself that question standing here at the Martin Chapel. The Martin Chapel is a place of peace and reflection on the campus of Brother Martin High School. This beautiful chapel wasn’t always here. It was built in honor of James Brian Branton. He was a student here, a member of the graduating class of 1974. Sadly, James passed away before he could graduate. His family generously donated the funds to build this chapel so that future generations of students would have a dedicated space for prayer and remembrance. Inside the chapel, you’ll discover a unique treasure. Stained glass windows, dating back to 1853, were painstakingly restored and brought here from the Brothers’ chapel in Le Puy, France. These windows, depicting the Sacred Heart, add a touch of history and reverence to the space. The exterior cross, crafted by a local artist, echoes the design of mission crosses erected by the founder of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. The Martin Chapel stands as a testament to faith, generosity, and the enduring spirit of community.
