“Can you believe this building opened its doors in 1970?” I ask. The Marlboro Jewish Center stands before us a testament to community and faith. It’s more than just bricks and mortar though. This isn’t just any synagogue. This is the Marlboro Jewish Center also known as Congregation Ohev Shalom.
It all began in 1970. The Marlboro Jewish Center wasn’t instantly a success. It took vision dedication and the hard work of many. They built this beautiful building at 103 School Road West in Marlboro New Jersey.
Today the Marlboro Jewish Center thrives. It’s a hub for the community. They offer youth groups including USY Kadima Pre-Kadima and Katan. These groups aren’t just for members either. Anyone can join. These programs help young people connect with their Jewish heritage. They build friendships and a sense of belonging.
Beyond youth programs the Marlboro Jewish Center boasts a rich spiritual life. Rabbi Michael Pont and Cantor Michelle Teplitz provide spiritual guidance and leadership. The congregation is part of Conservative Judaism. It’s known for its active community involvement. In fact its USY chapter was once a top chapter in New Jersey.
