In 2013, Margaride, Várzea, Lagares, Varziela e Moure embarked on a new chapter. The combined area now spans an impressive 17.44 square kilometers. Margaride itself became the chosen seat for this newly formed entity within Felgueiras, a municipality in the Porto district. As you stand here, in the heart of Margaride, Várzea, Lagares, Varziela e Moure, imagine the rich tapestry of history and culture that has unfolded over centuries. The 2021 census recorded a population of 17,695 people, a testament to the vibrancy of this community. The population density is about 1,014.6 inhabitants per square kilometer. This tells us that the freguesia is a mix of residential and possibly some rural areas.
