Mareşal Atatürk Anıtı Statue

Amidst the urban tapestry of Ankara, the Mareşal Atatürk Anıtı stands as a timeless tribute. This statue, crafted by the Italian sculptor Pietro Canonica, captures Atatürk in a powerful stance. This makes it the fourth oldest monument in the Republic of Turkey and the second Atatürk monument in Ankara. The first one is the Equestrian Atatürk Monument in front of the Ethnography Museum. The Mareşal Atatürk Anıtı is a relatively small monument. The bronze statue itself stands at 1.75 meters, atop a 2-meter marble pedestal. The total height is 3.75 meters. Despite its modest size, it exudes strength and determination. The statue faces Çankaya, the presidential district, a symbolic gesture of Atatürk’s enduring presence. The pedestal is adorned with victory wreaths and torches. These torches are lit on special occasions, casting a dramatic glow on the monument. Over the years, the bustling Atatürk Boulevard has grown around the Mareşal Atatürk Anıtı. High-rise buildings and heavy traffic now surround it. Yet, the statue persists, a steadfast reminder of Turkey’s past. In 2022, the monument underwent a restoration, thanks to the contributions of Anadolu Sigorta. This ensured that the Mareşal Atatürk Anıtı remains a symbol of pride and remembrance for generations to come.
