What if walls could talk? What tales would these walls of Maranatha Church whisper? Here at Maranatha Church, those whispers become echoes of a turbulent past. Maranatha Church isn’t just a building of bricks and mortar. It’s a stage where human drama has unfolded, a testament to resilience amidst conflict. In the early 2000s, Maranatha Church began to take shape. Returned missionaries Nelson and Sapna Samuel opened their home, hosting gatherings that laid the foundation for the church we see today. The first branch officially bloomed in 2008, nurtured by Rwandans who had found faith abroad and brought it back to their homeland. Names like Fabien Hatangimbabazi, Yvonne Martin, the Rumanyikas, and Ruth Opar echo in the church’s history. However, the path wasn’t smooth. Maranatha Church also faced its own trials. Power struggles between leaders Sadok Runezerwa and Fredrick Gafaranga shook the church in the mid-2000s. Accusations of embezzlement and disrupted services filled the air, creating a storm within these very walls. Despite these internal struggles, the spirit of Maranatha Church endured. It weathered the storm, a symbol of faith’s persistence in the face of adversity. Here, within these walls, the stories of faith, struggle, and community intertwine.
