These paintings, dating back to 1100-1700 AD, offer a glimpse into the lives and beliefs of those who roamed this land long before us. And as you stand here, imagine the shade of Livingstone’s Tree, a massive fig tree, its branches bowing to the earth. It is said that under this very tree, Dr. Livingstone, the famed explorer, shared his knowledge and preached to the people of Manyana. The village is also crisscrossed by the Kolobeng River, a perennial waterway that divides Manyana, flowing from Jwetle through the Ramoshage Dam and onwards to connect with the Metsimotlhabe River.
