This expansion, however, was short-lived. Just two years later, Mandrugno itself was annexed to Binasco. The story takes another turn in 1816. With the establishment of the Lombardo-Veneto kingdom, Mandrugno regained its independence, although its administration was shifted to the Province of Pavia. The final chapter of Mandrugno’s autonomy was written in 1841. Recognizing the need for administrative streamlining, Austrian rulers dissolved the municipality of Mandrugno, merging it into Zibido San Giacomo.
