Marvelous Maison Liétart isn’t it? Before you stands a masterpiece of Art Nouveau. Built in 1898 by Victor Taelemans this house is a hidden gem. It’s tucked away on Rue de Pavie.

Maison Liétart is more than just a house. It’s a testament to the architectural genius of its time. Note the symmetrical facade. The ground floor features a rectangular bow window. Two lateral bays flank it. The second floor boasts four paired bays. They sit beneath a cornice supported by elegant modillions.

But look closer. Observe the sculpted curves. They spring from either side of the bow window’s base. This relief work is in Savonnières stone. The red joints add a striking contrast. The curves are called whiplash curves. They are a signature of Art Nouveau. It’s a subtle detail many overlook.

The basement is a study in textures. Smooth blue stone forms the base. Above it is a band of rough blue stone. A 1950s renovation replaced an arched cellar window. It was replaced with a garage door. The entrance door with its horizontal slats is intriguing. Above it an ornate transom window is beautifully crafted. Notice the stained glass. To its right on the stone is the architect’s signature. Victor Taelemans proudly placed it for posterity.

Maison Liétart isn’t just about grand design. It reflects a bygone era. It whispers stories of Brussels’ past. It’s a place where history and artistry intertwine. A captivating piece of architectural history. One you’ll never forget. Take your time. Absorb its beauty. This is Maison Liétart. It’s a place of quiet elegance. A testament to enduring beauty.
