This whimsical attraction, inspired by the iconic Unbirthday Party in Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland,” invites you to take a spin in oversized teacups. The Mad Tea Party debuted with Magic Kingdom on opening day, October 1st, 1971. Initially, it was built without a roof, just like its counterpart in Disneyland. However, the unpredictable Florida weather led to the addition of a canopy in 1973. This canopy wasn’t just for protection from the elements. It also allowed for the inclusion of a charming detail: a central teapot from which the Dormouse periodically peeks out. This feature is unique to the Magic Kingdom and Tokyo Disneyland versions of the ride. As you spin your teacup, try to spot the Dormouse.
