Established shortly after the Yom Kippur War, Machon Meir Yeshiva stands as a testament to the resilience and spiritual yearning of the Jewish people. Rabbi Dov Bigon, a former IDF commander who helped liberate Jerusalem and the Western Wall, founded this institution. He was deeply moved by the return of the Jewish nation to their homeland. This inspired him to study at Mercaz HaRav Kook Yeshiva. Machon Meir Yeshiva was born from Rabbi Bigon’s desire to guide others on their path to Teshuva, a return to Jewish identity. The name “Machon Meir” itself honors Eliezer Meir Liphshitz, a fallen IDF soldier from the Yom Kippur War. Located near Givat Shaul in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Kiryat Moshe, Machon Meir Yeshiva welcomes young Jewish men from diverse backgrounds. The programs cater to all levels of knowledge, offering intensive study in Hebrew, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian. The curriculum delves into sacred texts like the Hebrew Bible and Talmud. It also explores the writings of Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook, history, Musar literature, and philosophy. Machon Meir Yeshiva isn’t solely focused on religious studies. It also provides a men-only Hebrew Ulpan, further integrating students into Israeli society. Beyond its educational programs, Machon Meir Yeshiva serves as a hub for individuals seeking an Orthodox conversion to Judaism, recognized by the State of Israel. It also boasts a sister organization, Machon Ora, dedicated to providing similar learning opportunities for young women. The yeshiva’s influence extends beyond its physical walls through Arutz Meir, a multimedia broadcast network. It offers a vast library of online Torah classes, accessible worldwide, perpetuating the teachings of Eretz Yisrael.
