Once upon a time Lynn Classical High School was located off the Lynn Commons. But a new facility was built on O’Callaghan Way. The new location soon faced a challenge. The building started to sink due to a lack of steel pilings. Imagine that. Your brand-new school slowly sinking into the ground. It built on landfill. Repairs were needed to secure the foundation.
Despite its rocky start Lynn Classical High School has become a vital part of Lynn. It serves students in grades 9 through 12. The school is committed to values. These include lifelong learning cultural diversity and high expectations. The school wants to provide a safe learning environment.
Lynn Classical High School aims high. Students are encouraged to communicate effectively solve problems creatively and work collaboratively. They are also encouraged to respect diversity. Lynn Classical High School wants its students to be ready for college and careers.
Many graduates have gone on to do great things. Harry Agganis played Major League Baseball. Lou Tsioropoulos played professional basketball. Helen F. Tucker became a biochemist. Lynn Classical High School has produced talented individuals.
The school’s colors are green and gold. The mascot is the Classical Ram. Lynn Classical High School is part of the Greater Boston League.
Lynn Classical High School offers Advanced Placement courses. Students can take dual enrollment courses with local colleges. This provides the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school.
