Lutheran High School-Westland a parochial high school has a rich history. It opened in 1986. The school found a home in a repurposed building. The building was once Nankin Mills Middle School. Even Alice Cooper a famous singer attended that middle school.
The decision to build a new Lutheran high school in western Wayne County wasn’t easy. Enrollment was declining at other Lutheran high schools in the area. Westland was chosen as the perfect location for the new school. It was a strategic move to serve the growing community.
The school quickly gained popularity. It offered a strong academic program. The school also focused on Christian values. The school’s growth was remarkable.
Over the years Lutheran High School-Westland underwent many renovations and updates. In 2001 a new gym lobby locker rooms and a weight room were added. Science labs received upgrades. Subsequent years saw further improvements. These included media center renovations classroom upgrades and even lighting added to the school’s field for night games. The art room received a complete makeover including a student-created mural.
Today Lutheran High School-Westland boasts impressive facilities. It offers a comprehensive education. The school’s commitment to its students and to Christian values remains strong. It continues to be a beacon in the community. The school thrives with approximately 190 students enrolled. The school colors are black and white. Its mascot is the Warrior. The school is associated with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. It’s a testament to the dedication of its founders and the continued support of the community.
