Ready to explore a place where love and unity aren’t just words? It is the Love and Unity Church of God in Christ. This church stands as a beacon of hope in Compton, California. Its story is one of faith and community.
Apostle Ronald C. Hill founded Love and Unity Christian Fellowship in November 1981. He began with his wife Osie and only five church members. They faced an urban community challenged by drugs and violence. But the church grew to over 3500 members impacting the community.
Apostle Hill’s journey is remarkable. He accepted Jesus Christ at the age of eight. But he experienced little spiritual growth until later in life. After serving in the United States Navy, he worked in the Aircraft Industry. In 1972, he rededicated his life to God.
The Lord called him to full-time ministry a year later. Apostle Hill became the first African-American minister to serve as chaplain with the Union Rescue Mission in Los Angeles. He also served as an Evangelist and Chaplain with the Los Angeles County Probation Department.
Love and Unity Christian Fellowship emphasizes evangelism. They have knocked on every door in Compton at least three times. The goal is to share the message of Christ.
In 2005, the church opened the Born Again Center. This multi-million dollar building became their new home. It symbolizes their commitment to the community.
Apostle Hill has expanded his ministry through media. He hosts the ‘Food for Your Soul’ radio broadcast on KTYM 1460AM. He also appears on TBN’s ‘Church Praise’ and ‘Praise The Lord’ programs. Love and Unity launched its national television show. It airs on The Impact Network and TBN’s ‘The Church Channel’.
His wife, Lady Osie Hill, is an integral part of the ministry. She began as a teacher with The Child Evangelism Fellowship. She also volunteered with her husband as a counselor. Lady Hill mentors women. She inspires them to hunger for the Word of God.
Love and Unity welcomes all to join their services. Those unable to attend in person can join online. The church streams services and Bible study live each week. They honor God by making disciples of all people groups.
The church expresses its faith in various ways. They clap their hands and shout praises. They pray in the Spirit. They sing choruses scriptures and hymns. The church uses musical instruments as part of their worship service. They lift their hands. They have the whole church pray at once.
Love and Unity Church of God in Christ is more than a building. It’s a community. It is a family. It is a testament to the power of faith and unity. Its story continues to inspire and uplift.
