In 1964, amidst the vibrant tapestry of Delhi Cantt, a seed of education was sown. Loreto Convent School first opened its doors at 28, Mall Road. Loreto Convent School blossomed under the guidance of Mother Francis Clare, its founder and first principal. The school later moved to its current location on Parade Road in July 1966. Loreto Convent School stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of the Loreto Educational Society. This society, associated with the Sisters of Loreto, a Roman Catholic order founded in 1609, has nurtured countless young minds. Loreto Convent School isn’t just a building; it’s a living embodiment of history, echoing the legacy of Mary Ward, the English nun who founded the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1609. The Loreto sisters, carrying this torch of knowledge, arrived in Calcutta from Ireland in 1842, establishing the first Loreto convent in India. Loreto Convent School in Delhi is one of 17 such schools in India. Globally, the Loreto network spans 119 schools across 12 countries and 6 continents. Today, Loreto Convent School thrives under the leadership of Mrs. Alice Rose D’lima. The school’s motto, “Maria Regina Angelorum Cruci Dum Spiro Fido” (Mary, Queen of the Angels. As long as I live, I put my faith in Christ who died for me.), reflects its commitment to holistic education. Within its pink-hued walls, Loreto Convent School offers a comprehensive education from nursery to class 12, affiliated with the CBSE board. Students can explore diverse academic streams, including humanities, science, and commerce. The campus pulsates with life, from well-equipped labs to sports courts, fostering both intellectual and physical growth. Loreto Convent School is not just a place of study but a vibrant community. Four houses – Ward (blue), Ball (green), Hart (yellow), and Walsh (red) – ignite healthy competition in sports and extracurricular activities. Students engage in basketball, volleyball, kho-kho, badminton, cricket, and table tennis. They also participate in drawing, creative writing, quizzes, extempores, declamations, and debates. Beyond academics, Loreto Convent School broadens horizons through excursions. Trips to Manali, Shimla, Jaipur, Jim Corbett National Park, and even international destinations like Egypt, Switzerland, Italy, Kolkata, Mount Abu, Udaipur, and Goa enrich the learning experience. Loreto Convent School’s distinguished alumni, like banker Shikha Sharma, exemplify the school’s impact on shaping future leaders.
