Lone Star College-Montgomery is a significant part of the Lone Star College System. It’s a comprehensive college offering a wide variety of programs. Over 13000 students were enrolled in 2015. Thousands more attend continuing education courses.
The college offers 40 career programs. These range from criminal justice to nursing. They even have a program for live entertainment technology. Weekend classes provide flexibility for busy students. There are also academic transfer courses covering many subjects. Art music science history and government are just a few. A continuing education division supports workforce training. They also have programs for older adults. The Academy for Lifelong Learning is one example.
Lone Star College-Montgomery has experienced significant growth. In 2011 they completed a major campus expansion. Three new buildings went up. A new health science center was part of this. There’s also a new arts instructional building. A huge 1000 space parking garage was added to handle the increased student population. A new LSC-Conroe Center campus opened in Conroe to reach more students in that growing area. The college even has a mascot Monty the Maverick. He debuted at the college’s 15th anniversary celebration.
Governor George W Bush presided over the grand opening. Enrollment in the fall of 1995 was about 3200 students. Now it’s much higher. The college’s achievements are impressive. It’s been recognized for student retention and community service. It’s a true pillar of the community. It continues to adapt and grow meeting the needs of the region.
