Logan Temple, a church steeped in history, was about to embark on a new chapter of service to its community. Pastor Ward’s vision was clear: to build housing for those in need. Logan Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church, located at 302 South 32nd Street in San Diego, had always been a beacon of hope. Now, it would provide tangible support to families struggling with the rising cost of living. The church’s legacy of service, coupled with Pastor Ward’s construction experience, led to a partnership with LOGOS Faith Development LLC. Their ambitious plan? To construct over eleven 3- and 4-bedroom townhomes, offered at below-market rents, a project aptly named “Legacy Place”. Logan Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church wasn’t just building homes; they were building futures. They recognized the growing need for affordable housing and stepped up to address it. The church’s commitment to its community extended beyond spiritual guidance, encompassing practical support and a helping hand. They also offer vital programs like autism support meetings, substance abuse meetings, and a weekly homeless feeding program called “Logan Cares”, partnering with the San Diego Food Bank to serve over 200 meals.
