Founded in 1998 the Living Way Church stands as a testament to faith and resilience. It’s a story of separation and new beginnings. Originally incorporated in San Diego the church’s roots trace back to the Worldwide Church of God. After the death of Herbert W Armstrong doctrinal changes caused turmoil. This led to the formation of numerous splinter groups including the Global Church of God.
Roderick C Meredith a prominent figure in the Worldwide Church of God became its founder. He served as Presiding Evangelist until his death in 2017. Meredith’s early career involved establishing WCG congregations in several US cities. He also led evangelizing tours across the globe. He was known for his strict application of church rules.
His leadership eventually led to disagreements within the Global Church of God. In 1998 he was dismissed from the Global Church of God. He then formed the Living Way Church. A significant portion of the Global Church of God membership followed him. This reflects the strong loyalty he commanded.
The Living Way Church’s growth wasn’t without challenges. Several ministers left over the years establishing their own churches. These included the Church of God 21st Century the Church of God In Peace and Truth and the Enduring Church of God. Despite these setbacks the Living Way Church persevered.
In 2003 the church relocated its corporate headquarters from San Diego to Charlotte North Carolina. By 2011 it boasted 330 congregations across 45 countries. Its annual Feast of Tabernacles attracted thousands of attendees. The church’s financial stability is also noteworthy. It reported substantial income from tithes and offerings.
Today the Living Way Church continues its mission of preaching the Gospel. Its beliefs include Binitarianism a unique perspective on the nature of God. It also adheres to a non-partisan stance encouraging members to avoid political involvement. It observes the Sabbath and biblical festivals. The church remains dedicated to its core doctrines and teachings.
