Originally named East Los Angeles Park, Lincoln Park Recreation Center has a story to tell. It is one of Los Angeles’s oldest parks. The city created it in 1881. John Strother Griffin donated the land.
In 1901, it was renamed Eastlake Park. Then in 1917, it gained its current name. The park was renamed Lincoln Park after Abraham Lincoln High School. This shows the community’s connection to education.
