Established in 1968, Lincoln Community School has been a cornerstone of international education in Accra, Ghana. It is located in West Africa. It is a private, not-for-profit, college preparatory, and co-educational international school.

Lincoln Community School caters to a diverse student body. Many are from expatriate families. These families are connected to embassies and foreign service agencies. They also come from NGOs, United Nations organizations, and international businesses. Interestingly, a large percentage of students are Ghanaian nationals. Approximately 25% of students are American. Eight percent are Ghanaian. The remaining 67% come from other countries around the globe.

English serves as the primary language of instruction here. Lincoln Community School offers classes from pre-school to grade 12. The academic year is divided into two semesters. The first runs from August to December. The second spans from January to June. These semesters are further broken down into quarterly assessment periods.

Lincoln Community School is an International Baccalaureate World School. It provides the Primary Years, Middle Years, and Diploma Programs. This authorization reflects its commitment to high educational standards. The school is also accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the Council of International Schools. It holds membership in the Association of International Schools in Africa.

The campus comprises 78 classrooms. These include specialized spaces such as art rooms and science labs. There are also technology labs and music rooms. A dedicated visual and performing arts center enriches the students’ creative experiences. The school provides junior and senior school libraries and an early childhood center. Office space is available for guidance and administration.

Sports facilities abound at Lincoln Community School. They include a multipurpose hall and playground. There is also a multipurpose court and two fields. A swimming pool and gymnasium are present. The school also offers a stage and dressing room facilities. The playground includes recreational equipment and a multipurpose court. The school boasts three libraries which are called HUBs. One serves the elementary school. Another supports the middle school. The last one serves the high school.

In 2011, the faculty consisted of 68 members. Among them were 26 U.S. citizens. There were 19 host-country nationals and 18 third-country nationals. Five hailed from the U.K. The school also employed 25 teaching assistants.

Governance rests with a nine-member Board of Directors. Six directors are elected by the Lincoln Community School Parent Association. They serve two-year terms. The U.S. Ambassador appoints the remaining three directors.

In the academic year 2022-2023, the student population totaled 629. They represented 60 countries. The school was established in 1968.
