Picture this a sprawling green field bathed in the warm Macau sun. This is Lin Fong Sports Ground a place where history and athleticism intertwine. In 1940 the Macao Government transformed the space. They partly incorporated a sports field. They renamed it May 28 Stadium also known as Lin Fong Stadium. A milestone was reached in 1989. The stadium’s athletic field was covered with an all-weather tartan track. This modernization marked a new era for Macau’s track and field athletics.

Lin Fong Sports Ground continued to evolve. An indoor swimming complex was added in 1986. This was Macau’s first public facility with heated pools. It included two pools one designed for people with disabilities. Further renovations in 1998 added an indoor sports centre perfect for various indoor sports. The ground now boasts a 105m by 68m natural grass field a five-lane running track and a grandstand seating 2200 spectators.

The Lin Fong Sports Ground has been the stage for many memorable matches. The Macau national football team played friendlies here. They faced off against Hong Kong’s Kitchee SC and Yuen Long FC. International competitions such as the Hong Kong Macau Interport Competition have also taken place here. Due to renovations at Macau Stadium the 2019 Liga de Elite played most of its matches here at Lin Fong Sports Ground.
