“Serving since 1959” is more than just a motto for Lighthouse Worship Center. It’s a testament to their enduring commitment. Lighthouse Worship Center has been a beacon of faith in Detroit. It all began with Pastor Allie Taylor D.D. in a simple church tent in Ecorse, Michigan.

Imagine that tent. Visualize the hopes and dreams of a new congregation taking root. This was 1959. The church then moved to the King Theater on Chene Street later that same year. The congregation sought a more permanent home. In 1960, Lighthouse found it at 19009 Conant Avenue.

Bishop Charlie Green first attended Lighthouse at the Conant Avenue location. The church remained there from 1960 to 1974. Big changes were coming. Lighthouse then moved to 8801 Woodward Avenue. It was at this location that the church was renamed Lighthouse Cathedral.

Lighthouse Cathedral remained on Woodward until November 2007. The church experienced a brief transitional period. This was at a location on Evergreen and 7 Mile. Finally, on July 1, 2008, Lighthouse Cathedral settled at 15940 Puritan Avenue.

Bishop Charlie H. Green has been a guiding force. He was born in Robinsonville, Mississippi. He is one of five children born to Willie and Daisy Green. Bishop Green is married to Trennase Green. Together they have three children: Chareeta, LaKendra, and Charles Green.

Under Pastor Allie Taylor’s leadership, Bishop Green was ordained in 1975. On September 18, 1988, he became the Pastor of Lighthouse Cathedral. His leadership continues to this day.

Lighthouse Worship Center is open to all. People of all ages and backgrounds are welcome. The church leads its congregation in worship. It deepens their connection to God. It promotes understanding of Christ’s teachings. The goal is to foster a vibrant faith.
