In December 1969 Reverend Samuel C. Ammons stepped out on faith. He established Liberty Baptist Church. The church was located at 3335 Holman Street in Houston.
The early days were humble. The congregation consisted of the Bailey family and a few others. Deacon Hosea and Ruth Bailey were key figures. Sis Katy Armstrong and Bro A.B. Straughter also contributed. Despite their small numbers God blessed them.
The congregation grew over the years. On November 19 2000 Liberty Baptist Church moved. Its new home became 12200 Fondren Road in Houston. God has blessed the church ever since this move.
After 50 years Liberty Baptist Church continues to thrive. The Lord guides its ministers deacons and teachers. The entire Liberty family both near and far is blessed. A new chapter began on September 24 2017. Reverend Warren L. Haggray became the new leader.
He continues the diligent work of the past. Under his leadership Liberty Baptist Church continues to excel. The church believes in studying and applying God’s word. This makes being one of His own a joy.
Liberty Baptist Church is now an independent Baptist church. It is led by Pastor Leandro Ambros. The church uses only the King James Bible. Services are offered in Spanish.
