Painted on a rough, unrenovated wall, the Les femmes Mural bursts with color and life. This isn’t just a mural. It’s a powerful statement. Initiated in 2018 by the Minister of Women’s Rights and Alter Egales, Les femmes is a tribute to female solidarity. The mural showcases a multitude of women’s faces, each one a testament to strength and resilience. The vibrant colors intentionally contrast with the often male-dominated urban landscape. They bring women to the forefront, demanding recognition and celebrating their contributions. Les femmes Mural features two iconic figures of feminism. You can see Frida Kahlo, the renowned Mexican painter. Also depicted is Vandana Shiva, the Indian feminist and ecofeminist writer and activist. For the artist, Madame La Belge, this work symbolizes the ongoing fight for gender equality. The Les femmes Mural is more than just paint on a wall. It’s a vibrant symbol of hope and a powerful reminder of the importance of women’s voices.
