In the heart of Beirut, the Lebanese University Faculty of Information and Journalisme stands as a testament to the power of words. The faculty’s journey began on October 5, 1967. It was originally called the “Institution of Press”. Its mission was clear: to develop media and train aspiring journalists. The Lebanese University Faculty of Information and Journalisme has seen its name change a few times. In 1975, it became the “Faculty of Information and Documentation”. Later, in 2012, it adopted its current name, the “Faculty of Information”. The Lebanese University Faculty of Information and Journalisme is not confined to a single location. It has two branches, one at UNESCO and another at Fanar. In 2016, the faculty expanded its mission. A research center was established. This center houses the Department of Research, the Department of Research and Documentation, and the Center of Media Development & Media Personnel Training. The Lebanese University Faculty of Information and Journalisme reached a milestone in 2020. It received academic accreditation for all its bachelor’s and master’s programs from the High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (HCERES). This accreditation is valid for five years. The faculty offers a variety of programs. Students can pursue a Bachelor degree in various specializations. They follow the BMD system, which spans six semesters over three years. The faculty also offers both research and professional master’s degrees. One notable alumna is Joelle Hajj Moussa. She won the prestigious “TELLY AWARDS” International Festival. Her victory is a testament to the quality of education at the Lebanese University Faculty of Information and Journalisme.
