Behold, Leatop Plaza stands before you. This late-modernist supertall skyscraper graces Guangzhou’s skyline. Did you know that Leatop Plaza is more than just a pretty face? It’s a testament to modern design and sustainable building practices.

Leatop Plaza is located in Zhujiang New Town. It stands parallel to the East entrance. This places it at the heart of Guangzhou’s central business district. The building’s crisp geometry culminates in a sharply sloped roof. This gives it an iconic and recognizable silhouette.

Construction on Leatop Plaza began in October 2008. It was completed in July 2012. Guangdong Leatop Real Estate Investment Co., Ltd is the owner. Francisco Gonzalez-Pulido designed it for JAHN.

Leatop Plaza rises to a height of 302.7 meters. That is 993 feet. It has 66 stories. Five of these are below ground. The office tower has a floor pitch of 4 meters. That is 13 feet. Inside, there’s an impressive 118,988 square meters of floor space. That is 1,280,780 square feet. Thirty-five lifts efficiently move people within the building.

The facade uses glass layers. They create a sculptural image. It appears as if the building were cut from a block of ice. The sloped lobby mirrors the roof’s angle. This adds to the tower’s precise image. The simple square plan integrates landscaped space. It merges with the urban environment. A glazed sky garden sits atop the building. It offers an exclusive feature for occupants. The shingled facade emphasizes the tower’s height. It also provides exterior shading. An efficient braced-tube structure minimizes material usage.

Leatop Plaza achieved LEED Gold certification. Later, it earned LEED Platinum. This recognizes its environmental management strategies. It became the first LEED-certified building in southeast China. The tower strives for a 10% reduction in baseline energy consumption. It also aims for a 40% reduction in potable water usage. This is achieved through its high-performance facade. Roof and ground-level landscaping are part of the design. Rain and gray-water retention is also used.

The building uses a triple-layer. It has a vertical shingled glazing system. Automated solar shades are included. This creates a high-performance building envelope.

Leatop Plaza’s impact extends beyond its physical structure. Its memorable form has become a landmark. It ushered in subsequent development in the surrounding area. Leatop Plaza stands as a symbol. It represents Guangzhou’s economic ambition. It showcases architectural innovation.

As you stand here, consider the vision and engineering. Consider the environmental consciousness that shaped Leatop Plaza. It’s not just a building. It’s a beacon of progress in this dynamic city.
