What stories do these streets of LaSalle whisper? LaSalle is a civil township in Monroe County. It offers a glimpse into Michigan’s past and present.

LaSalle was established in 1836. It has grown into a community of distinct settlements. Grand View sits along Lake Erie’s shore. North Shores lies just south. Each has its own story to tell.

The community of LaSalle itself is at the heart of the township. It sits where South Dixie Highway meets LaPlaisance Road. A post office has served LaSalle since 1834.

Morocco was once a rural community. It even had its own post office from 1884 to 1906. Toledo Beach was once a bustling summer resort. It featured an amusement park accessible by trolley. The Toledo Beach Amusement Park closed due to financial problems. It was replaced by the Toledo Beach Marina in 1962. Winchester was an early settlement near Otter Creek’s mouth.

LaSalle’s geography is defined by its waterways. Otter Creek flows through the community of LaSalle. Sulphur Creek and Muddy Creek drain the southern areas. Woodchuck Creek marks the township’s northeast border. All these creeks flow into Lake Erie.

Major highways connect LaSalle. Interstate 75 runs through the eastern part. US 24 and M-125 also pass through the township.
