Have you ever imagined a 50-foot-tall showgirl? Right here at the Las Vegas Showgirl Sign, you don’t have to imagine. Two dazzling, retro-style showgirls stand tall at the corner of Main Street and Las Vegas Boulevard. The Las Vegas Showgirl Sign isn’t just a sign. It’s a symbol of the city’s vibrant energy and entertainment legacy. These towering figures, each weighing 6,800 pounds, were installed by YESCO, the same company behind many iconic Las Vegas signs like the Downtown Gateway Arches and the Circa Resort & Casino signage. The Las Vegas Showgirl Sign’s debut was a spectacle. They first lit up the night sky at dusk on August 31st. Their white LED bodies and twinkling, full-color LED headdresses add a touch of magic to the downtown landscape. These new showgirls are twice the size of their predecessors, which were only 25-feet tall. The older signs now reside in the Las Vegas Arts District after some weather-related refurbishment. The Las Vegas Showgirl Sign shares the spotlight with other playful additions like giant dice sculptures and a sidewalk roulette table. Together, they create a welcoming and whimsical atmosphere for visitors. Each showgirl’s headdress is a masterpiece in itself. Measuring over five feet tall and six feet wide, they were fabricated separately and placed as the crowning glory atop the massive figures. So, the next time you’re in downtown Las Vegas, look up and admire the Las Vegas Showgirl Sign. They are a testament to the city’s dazzling history and a vibrant reminder that in Vegas, bigger is always better.
