Beneath the neon glow, a different kind of art thrives here. The Las Vegas mural isn’t just paint on a wall. It’s a vibrant story etched into the city’s soul.

This Las Vegas mural is located in the 18b Arts District. Find it on the corner of Colorado Avenue at 1237 S Main St. This Greetings Tour mural marks the 44th postcard-style mural across the country. It represents the tour’s 21st state.

The Greetings Tour faced challenges painting this mural. Travel restrictions due to COVID-19 caused delays. The project was postponed. The artists secured the wall in February but couldn’t proceed immediately. They finally painted it, finishing 2020 on a positive note.

The team planned each day carefully. They took precautions to stay safe. They used their RV for sleeping and cooking. This minimized contact with others.

Becky Miller, the building owner greeted the artists. She is also the VP of the 18b Arts District. She helped bring the area to life. The building was once a lab for atomic testing. So, they included that in the Las Vegas mural. Ahern Rentals sponsored the lift.

The artists had visited the area before. They were impressed by the improvements. Art attracted new businesses and tourism. They were happy to contribute. They worked from sunrise to sunset.

In 2014, they took a helicopter ride into the Grand Canyon. They visited Red Rock Canyon. They remembered the beauty of these natural places.

The artists met with the City of Las Vegas. They sought funding but encountered red tape. They sourced their own walls. Becky from the Arts District offered wall options. She gave them creative freedom.

The mural’s purples represent desert sunsets and sunrises. Locals suggested additional imagery. They wanted it timeless. They included nature and history. They incorporated two hidden Elvis images.

Las Vegas relies on tourism. COVID-19 hit the city hard. The artists donated this wall to lift the community’s spirit. It was their gift back to the city.

Each letter in “Las Vegas” represents something iconic. The “L” shows The Stratosphere. The “A” features the Luxor Hotel. The “S” depicts The Linq. “V” shows dice, cards, and poker chips. “E” represents Bugsy Siegel and an atom bomb. “G” shows Red Rock Canyon. The second “A” shows the Hoover Dam. The final “S” presents the Vegas Vic neon sign.

The Las Vegas mural is more than a picture. It is a greeting and a reminder. It’s a symbol of resilience. It’s a celebration of the city’s spirit. It’s a gift.
