“What a great hill!” Emperor Shun exclaimed during his inspection. That’s how Langshan got its name. We are about to discover its wonders together. Langshan is more than just a mountain. It is a testament to time and nature’s artistry.

Langshan boasts a unique Danxia landform. This landform is characterized by red sandstone formations shaped over millions of years. Imagine a vast continental lake. Crustal movements pushed up its bottom. This created the stunning red rock formations you see today at Langshan.

Covering 108 square kilometers, Langshan is home to over 60 scenic spots. Lush vegetation thrives here. Clear streams meander through the landscape. The area teems with diverse wildlife.

Langshan is divided into five distinct parts. These are Purple Glow Land, Fuyi River, Camel Peak, Ox Nose Castle, and Octagonal Castle. Each offers a unique perspective.

Chilli Peak stands out as the most marvelous. It soars 180 meters high. Its shape resembles a mature chilli. The top is large. The bottom is small. In 2002, Alain Robert, the “Spiderman”, successfully scaled Chilli Peak.

Ox Nose Castle has an interesting story. Locals call it Niubishan. Look closely at the rock. You’ll see pairs of holes like ox nostrils. In the 1850s, Shi Dakai stationed troops here.

Purple Glow Land is known as the “First Lane in the World”. At its narrowest, it is only 0.3 meters wide. Stand here. You can see neither the way in front nor behind. Only a line of sky and cliffs.

Octagonal Castle is on Langshan’s southern border. Eight connected peaks resemble a lotus flower. Locals call it Baijiaozhai. Visit during a light mist. The peaks emerge like whales in the ocean.

Camel Peak truly resembles a camel. It is the longest and heaviest camel in the world. Nearby is an upside-down Hot Pepper Peak. This peak symbolizes the enthusiasm of Hunan people.

Zixiadong Village is a picturesque canyon. An eminent monk once practiced Buddhism here. He aired his kasaya atop Mountain Hongwa. The kasaya shone in the morning sun.

Fuyi River is a branch of the Zi River. Its clear waters wind through grotesque peaks. The Fuyi River and the Lijiang River both originate from Mountain Mao’er.

The Rock of General stands 400 meters high. Its grand figure is visible from 5000 meters away. The scenic area displays Crimson Glow rock formations. These are rare worldwide.

Langshan is a place of natural wonder and rich history. From Chilli Peak to the Fuyi River, each site has a unique story. I hope you now see the unique and great nature of Langshan.
