“Did someone say ‘Tigers’?” a young boy whispered, his eyes wide with anticipation. He clutched his father’s hand as they approached the gates of Langlands Park. This wasn’t just any park for him; it was a cathedral of rugby dreams, home to the Brisbane Tigers. Langlands Park has been a landmark in Stones Corner since the early 20th century, but for sports enthusiasts, it’s a site of legendary clashes on the rugby field. The park’s history intertwines with the Brisbane Tigers, a team competing in the Queensland Cup. Langlands Park has witnessed their triumphs and heartbreaks, the roar of the crowds echoing the team’s fierce spirit. The park even witnessed a nail-biting match in 2004 when the Tigers clawed their way to victory against the Wynnum-Manly Seagulls, securing their place in the Queensland Cup Grand Final. The energy that day was electric, with over 5,000 fans on the edge of their seats. The largest crowd Langlands Park ever saw was back in 1977 when over 8,000 people gathered to watch a clash between Wests and Easts. The park has seen city-country representative matches, even hosting the final of the Rugby League Student World Cup in 2005. But Langlands Park isn’t just about rugby. In 2023, the ground was reborn, emerging from a significant redevelopment with a new name: Totally Workwear Stadium. This revamp ushered in a new era for the park, making it the home ground for the Brisbane Broncos Women’s team in the National Rugby League Women’s competition. With a seating capacity of 3,500, the upgraded Langlands Park continues to be a hub for sports, community, and unforgettable memories.
