Whispering winds guide you to Lane Airpark. This isn’t just any airfield. It’s a piece of aviation history right here in Rosenberg Texas. Lane Airpark opened its gates on December 1 1946. For nearly eighty years it has served pilots and planes. It’s a privately owned airport. Grant Lane himself owns and manages this slice of the Texas sky. You can reach him at the P O Box 432 in Rosenberg.
Lane Airpark boasts a single runway. It measures 3200 feet long and 35 feet wide. The runway surface is asphalt in good condition. The airport covers a substantial 105 acres. It’s located just three nautical miles southeast of Rosenberg itself. The airpark sits at an elevation of 94 feet above mean sea level.
Interestingly enough Lane Airpark doesn’t have a control tower. Pilots rely on the Houston Center ARTCC for air traffic control. For weather and NOTAMs Montgomery County Flight Service Station is the go-to source. You’ll find a wind indicator to help you gauge wind conditions before takeoff or landing.
Fuel is available here for many working days. You can find 100LL and Jet-A fuel Monday through Friday between 8 am and 5 pm. Minor airframe and powerplant repairs are also available on-site. While Lane Airpark doesn’t offer international operations it’s a hub for general aviation. It’s a popular spot for local pilots and those passing through the Houston area. The airpark is open to the public with no landing fees.
