What if I told you that a piece of Lancaster University resides right here in Accra? Lancaster University Ghana, a branch campus of the prestigious UK institution, stands as a testament to the power of international collaboration. It’s a place where students from across West Africa, and indeed the world, converge to pursue a British education without leaving the continent. Lancaster University Ghana opened its doors in 2013, thanks to a partnership between Lancaster University and Trans National Education. Initially, the student body numbered just 67. However, by 2015, that number had swelled to over 500, representing 15 different nationalities. This rapid growth necessitated a new campus in East Legon, complementing the existing facilities. This new campus isn’t just about extra space. It’s a state-of-the-art learning environment. It boasts a dedicated EMBA suite, a purpose-built lecture theatre, and numerous seminar rooms. It also has expanded office space for the growing academic staff. Lancaster University Ghana offers a diverse portfolio of programs. These programs, ranging from foundation courses to master’s degrees, are tailored to meet the demands of the West African job market. Students can choose from fields like law, business studies, computing, international relations, politics and economics, marketing, and psychology. And upon graduation, they receive the same degree certificate as their counterparts studying in the UK. This means they also gain access to a thriving alumni network of over 100,000 individuals worldwide. Lancaster University Ghana’s commitment to quality mirrors that of its parent institution. As Professor Mark Smith, Vice-Chancellor of Lancaster University, stated during the new campus inauguration, compromising on quality is never an option. This dedication to excellence is evident in everything from the curriculum to the facilities. The National Accreditation Board of Ghana has recognized and supported Lancaster University Ghana since its inception. This support, along with the backing of the Ministry of Education, underscores the university’s importance in the Ghanaian educational landscape. Lancaster University Ghana is more than just a university. It’s a bridge between cultures, a hub of innovation, and a testament to the transformative power of education.
