Can you feel the spirit of community? Right here at the Lake Success Jewish Center, it’s palpable. The Lake Success Jewish Center isn’t just a building. It’s a vibrant hub, nestled in Great Neck, New York. It’s a place where tradition meets modern life, where the echoes of prayers mingle with the laughter of children. The Lake Success Jewish Center is described as an egalitarian, Conservative synagogue. The heart of the community beat strongly here, especially under the guidance of Rabbi Michael Klayman. He served the congregation from 2008 until his retirement at the end of 2024. He wasn’t just a spiritual leader. He was a storyteller, weaving together the threads of history and faith. He led a creative Hebrew School and engaged with everyone, from the youngest tots to the wisest seniors. Rabbi Klayman’s influence extended beyond the synagogue walls. He served as President of the Great Neck Clergy Association. He fostered interfaith dialogue through public access TV programs. He even shared Sabbath and holiday messages with the wider community through North Shore TV. His co-authored book, “Sharing Blessings: Children’s Stories for Exploring the spirit of the Jewish Holidays,” reflects his dedication to sharing the beauty of Jewish traditions. The Lake Success Jewish Center continues to thrive, seeking new leadership to guide it into the future. They’re searching for an energetic rabbi to build upon the strong foundation laid by Rabbi Klayman, to attract new members and create a vibrant learning environment. The Lake Success Jewish Center isn’t just looking back at its rich history. It’s looking forward, towards a future filled with the same warmth, the same spirit of community, and the same dedication to Torah, service, and acts of kindness. It’s a place where everyone is welcome to share in the beauty of the world.
