From minuscule particles to groundbreaking discoveries, what wonders lie within these walls? We stand before the Laboratory of Nano and Quantum Engineering, a hub of innovation nestled within the Leibniz University Hannover. The Laboratory of Nano and Quantum Engineering, often abbreviated as LNQE, opened its doors in November 2009. This cutting-edge facility houses specialized laboratories, equipment, and clean rooms dedicated to the fascinating world of nanotechnology. The Laboratory of Nano and Quantum Engineering is not just a building. It’s a testament to the pursuit of knowledge at the smallest scales. Within its walls, over 30 research groups from physics, chemistry, and engineering collaborate on interdisciplinary projects. They delve into the realm of nanomaterials, mechanics, magnetics, nanoelectronics, optics, and quantum systems. The Laboratory of Nano and Quantum Engineering also plays a crucial role in educating the next generation of nanoscientists. It offers a dedicated nanotechnology study course, both at the bachelor’s and master’s levels. The Laboratory of Nano and Quantum Engineering also contributes to the Hannover School for Nanotechnology (hsn), a PhD program fostering interdisciplinary collaboration with the Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts. This program ensures that young scientists receive comprehensive training in this cutting-edge field. This unique research center boasts an impressive infrastructure, including 430 square meters of chemical, measurement, and laser laboratories, a 410 square meter cleanroom, and 509 square meters of workspace for its dedicated staff. The construction of this state-of-the-art facility was a joint effort, funded by the state of Lower Saxony and the federal government, costing approximately €14 million. The Laboratory of Nano and Quantum Engineering stands as a beacon of scientific advancement, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the nanoworld.
