“Primus Semper Aurora” Always First At Dawn. That’s the motto of Labone Senior High School. A powerful statement echoing through the years. Standing before this very building you feel its weight. The history is palpable.

Labone Senior High School. More than just a school. It’s a legacy. Founded in 1949 by six visionary Ghanaians. They saw a need. A need for education in the Osu and La communities. Initially a private school in the Ako Adjei Area. It laid the groundwork for what you see today.

Imagine the challenges. Limited resources. A burgeoning nation seeking its footing. Yet this school thrived. At independence Kwame Nkrumah understood education’s importance. He launched the Ghana Educational Trust. This helped build schools nationwide. Including this one. Labone was relocated to its present site a testament to its growing significance.

Look closely at the crest. A shield divided into four. Designed by Nii Amon Kotei the same man who created Ghana’s coat of arms. Each quarter speaks volumes. The rising sun. A pen and torch. A pickaxe and cutlass. The oil palm tree. Symbols of ambition diligence and productivity. Powerful imagery reflecting the school’s values.

The school has seen numerous headmasters and headmistresses each contributing to its story. From S Gyasi Nimako to Cynthia Obuo Nti. Each one a chapter in the school’s long and rich history. A history marked by success. In academics sports and culture. Labone Senior High School has consistently excelled. Especially its contribution to the National Science and Maths Quiz. A source of pride.

More than just brick and mortar. This school is a community. A family. It’s a place where dreams take flight. A place where young minds are shaped. A place where history is not just read but lived. Feel the energy. Sense the legacy. This is Labone Senior High School. Always First At Dawn.
