La Salle College High School

In 1858, a modest seed was planted in the heart of Philadelphia. That seed, La Salle College High School, has grown into a towering oak of education and tradition. Originally known as the “Select School”, La Salle College High School began its journey at St. Michael’s School. Located at Second and Jefferson Streets in West Kensington, it quickly blossomed into the Christian Brothers Academy. La Salle College High School’s connection to higher education became evident early on, as it became the preparatory school for La Salle College in 1863. The school and college were inseparable for nearly a century, sharing campuses in Center City and later at the former mansion of Michael Bouvier. In 1960, La Salle College High School found its current home on the sprawling Belcroft Estate. This marked a significant moment in its history, establishing it as a distinct institution. Today, the 84-acre campus boasts impressive facilities, including state-of-the-art classrooms, a beautiful Marian Chapel, and a grotto dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes. La Salle College High School isn’t just about academics. Its students are encouraged to “Enter to Learn. Leave to Serve.” This motto is embodied in the school’s robust athletic program, with a remarkable history of 271 Philadelphia Catholic League titles. From football to swimming, La Salle College High School athletes have consistently proven their mettle. La Salle College High School also offers a unique program, the David Program, designed to support students with mild learning disabilities.
