La ferme de la Chapelle

The La Ferme de la Chapelle is a captivating example of a captivating blend of history and contemporary art. Built in the early 17th century, the farm, once known as ‘Maison Bellamy’, was owned by the Bellamy family for generations. They lived and worked on this land, cultivating the soil and raising animals for the city. The City of Lancy acquired the estate in 1978 and renovated it extensively in the early 1980s. It was during this time that they unearthed the ruins of a chapel dating back to the 17th century in the garden. They carefully preserved the remnants, showcasing the past nestled within the modern farm structure. La Ferme de la Chapelle, after being briefly utilized as a community center became an art gallery in 1985 and has been an art space under its current management since 2007. It sits alongside Villa Bernasconi, showcasing four to five contemporary art exhibitions annually. These exhibitions are enriched by performances, concerts, readings, and various tour formats. La Ferme de la Chapelle is a place that aims to support artists and promote culture for everyone. The city of Lancy has been instrumental in transforming the farm into a living, breathing space that showcases the history and inspires creativity, a testament to the power of art to bridge past and present. Today, the farm offers a place for artists to exhibit their work.
