Did you ever hear a school called “THEE”? Right here stands L. W. Higgins High School, affectionately known as THEE L. W. Higgins High School. It’s more than just a name. It’s a statement of pride. L. W. Higgins has a rich history in Marrero, Louisiana. The school has seen numerous talented athletes walk its halls. Alumni like Ezekiel Brown, quarterback, halfback, and outside linebacker from the class of 2018, and Brian Davis, a free safety from 2015, are just a couple examples. Many others continued their football journeys after graduating. L. W. Higgins has nurtured athletes who played a variety of positions, from wide receiver to defensive tackle. The current principal, Stephanie Dillon, emphasizes the school’s commitment to every student’s success. She believes in fostering a strong partnership between home, school, and the community. L. W. Higgins offers various support services. These include tutoring, mentoring, and counseling. The school aims to create an environment where students thrive academically and personally. The football team, the Hurricanes, have a history of playoff appearances, making it to the postseason multiple times between 1990 and 2011. Coached by Tom Lavigne, the team embodies the school’s spirit of perseverance. L. W. Higgins High School isn’t just a building.
