On the highest point in Burlöv municipality stands a magnificent structure. Kronetorps Mölla, with its impressive 27-meter height, proudly holds the title of Skåne’s largest windmill. The sight of this “Hollander” mill, as it’s known, is a testament to a bygone era. This means that only the cap, carrying the mighty wings, turns to face the wind.

Kronetorps Mölla isn’t just a visual treat. It’s a historical landmark, built in 1841 by the owner of Kronetorps gård. He chose to erect this majestic mill on the highest point of his land. Interestingly, this very spot was once home to three Bronze Age burial mounds known as Darrhöglarna. Today, only one remains, a silent witness to the passage of time.

The mill’s history is as captivating as its structure. Imagine, back in the 1860s, Kronetorps Mölla was a hive of activity. It had a capacity of four sets of millstones, allowing it to grind an impressive 16 sacks of flour per hour. This required a team of three dedicated workers to keep the operation running smoothly. The mill served the estate and later catered to customers seeking freshly ground flour.

As you stand here, take a moment to appreciate the ingenuity of the design. Kronetorps Mölla, with its two-story granite base, the impressive entrance, and the spacious grain storage, is a testament to the craftsmanship of the past. Owned by the Burlöv municipality since 1976, the mill stands as a symbol of their commitment to preserving history. Though it ceased operation in 1961, the soul of Kronetorps Mölla lives on.
