Remember Sungai Way’s story? It lives within these walls at Koridor Sejarah Kampung Baru Seri Setia. This isn’t just a museum. It is a community’s heart preserved.

Koridor Sejarah began in 2019 during Seri Setia’s 70th-anniversary celebration. The Seri Setia New Village community management council created this historical hub. They transformed an underutilized car park. It became a testament to their village’s journey.

The Koridor Sejarah Kampung Baru Seri Setia may be small. Yet it holds over 600 artifacts. Villagers donated these items. These are genuine pieces of their past.

As you enter the Koridor Sejarah Kampung Baru Seri Setia, notice the facade. It resembles a traditional village wooden house. The doors and windows are authentic. Villagers donated them instead of discarding them. This rebirth gives deep meaning to the exhibit.

Inside the Koridor Sejarah Kampung Baru Seri Setia, artifacts tell tales. They narrate Sungai Way’s evolution. The village transformed from tin mining and rubber cultivation to a bustling urban center.

In the 19th century, Sungai Way’s industrial development began. Sir Frank A Swettenham built a railway. It connected Kuala Lumpur to Port Klang.

The tin mining industry boomed. The Sungai Way Tin Company had an 800-acre mining field. In the early 20th century, rubber cultivation thrived. It occupied about 2500 acres. The Koridor Sejarah displays rubber cups and latex buckets. These highlight the villagers’ daily challenges.

Chinese immigrants worked in tin mines and rubber estates. In the 1960s, the Federal Highway opened. The KTM Komuter electric train service came to Seri Setia station. These boosted the local economy. Sungai Way earned the nickname “New Village in the City”.

The Koridor Sejarah Kampung Baru Seri Setia boasts diverse exhibits. These relics were part of daily life. A hand-drawn map of Sungai Way from the 1950s is here. Also see a model of Christopher Columbus’ ship, the Santa Maria. Antique telephones, typewriters and record players are displayed. The museum’s first donation was an antique clock from the 1970s. Vintage measuring instruments include the Gantang. It measured rice before the metric system.

Historical documents are preserved. Citizenship certificates and business licenses are here. Marriage certificates and permits from the Japanese occupation are displayed.

The museum labels each artifact with the donor’s name. This emphasizes their contribution. Donors can share stories with their descendants. This creates a deep sense of connection.

Black-and-white photographs adorn the walls. Musical instruments and nostalgic items bear witness to time’s passage. See an antique lamp used before electricity. A 1950s cosmetic box evokes memories.

Koridor Sejarah Kampung Baru Seri Setia also showcases Sungai Way’s cultural side. In the 1980s, the Khuan Loke Lion Dance Troupe rose to prominence. They achieved success in national and international competitions. The high-pole lion dance is a Malaysian innovation. It is now part of Malaysia’s national heritage.
