Dedicated to heroes. That’s the Korean War Memorial. It stands here in Memory Grove in Salt Lake City. This memorial pays tribute to those who served during the Korean War era.
Around 28000 individuals from Utah served. A total of 141 never made it back home. This includes 34 POW or MIAs who remain unaccounted for.
Ceremonies marked the 50th anniversary of the armistice signing. This armistice ended the Korean War. Many gathered to remember this war. It was often called “The Forgotten War.” This Korean War Memorial was dedicated in Memory Grove Park. It honors the fallen and missing soldiers.
The Korean War started with a surprise attack on June 25 1950. Eight divisions attacked. There were 60000 troops. Also an armored brigade from the North Korean People’s Army. Their target was the Republic of Korea. The war lasted three long years.
The Korean War Wall of Honor is another name for this memorial. You can also call it the Utah Korean War Memorial.
