Established in 1906, Hankook Samyuk High School has witnessed over a century of Seoul’s vibrant history. Originally named Euimyung College, the school began its journey in Sunahn, Pyeongan-namdo, in what is now North Korea. Hankook Samyuk High School was founded by Seventh-day Adventist missionaries. Their aim was to nurture church workers through education. The school faced a period of closure during Japanese rule due to enforced Shinto worship. After Korea’s liberation, Hankook Samyuk High School relocated to Seoul in 1949, symbolizing a new era of educational opportunity. The Korean War brought another interruption, forcing the school to close its doors once more. However, resilience prevailed. After the recapture of Seoul, Hankook Samyuk High School reopened at its current location in Nowon-gu. The school’s name, Hankook Samyuk High School, stands as a testament to its enduring commitment to education. Today, it is affiliated with the West Central Korean Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Led by Principal Hak Taek Kim, the school continues its mission of shaping young minds within a faith-based environment.
