This pre-university college, formerly known as SMK Desa Mahkota, has a rich, albeit short, history. It began its journey on March 31, 2014, as a standard secondary school. Just two years later, on May 22, 2016, it ascended to the status of a full-fledged Kolej Tingkatan Enam, specifically designed for pre-university studies. The transformation of SMK Desa Mahkota into Kolej Tingkatan Enam Desa Mahkota marked a significant milestone in its history. Initially, the college inherited its first cohort of sixth-form students from four other schools: SMK Kepong Baru, SMK Raja Ali, SMK Raja Abdullah, and SMK Jinjang. Then, on April 27, 2015, two more schools, SMK Batu Muda and SMK Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, joined the fold, further enriching the college’s student body. Starting with the 2014 intake, Kolej Tingkatan Enam Desa Mahkota opened its doors to SPM graduates from 18 neighboring schools, expanding its reach and influence within the community. The college proudly upholds its motto, “Melestari Kecemerlangan Ilmuwan,” which translates to “Sustaining the Excellence of Scholars.” This motto reflects the institution’s dedication to nurturing bright minds and fostering a lifelong love of learning. Kolej Tingkatan Enam Desa Mahkota offers a diverse range of subject combinations for its STPM students. These include science-heavy tracks like Mathematics (T), Chemistry, and Biology or Physics. Students can also opt for technical combinations like Mathematics (T), Physics, and Chemistry or ICT. For those inclined towards business and humanities, options abound, including Economics, Accounting, and either Mathematics (M) or Business Studies. Moreover, the college encourages the study of languages and humanities with combinations like Malay Language, History, and Economics or Business Studies, as well as Visual Arts. All students are required to take Pengajian Am (General Studies) and the Malaysian University English Test (MUET), essential components for university applications.
