But life changed dramatically. Much of the best farming land was acquired to construct the North Pine Dam. This dam created Lake Samsonvale. This event reshaped Kobble Creek forever. Today, Kobble Creek is a quieter place. It is a rural-dormitory zone with limited farming.

Did you know that the name Kobble comes from the Waka language? The Garumngar dialect gives us the word “kabul”. It means carpet snake. Mount Kobble stands at 384 meters high. It’s part of the Mount Samson Range that defines the southeastern boundary of Kobble Creek.

Kobble Creek Provisional School opened its doors around 1881. It became Kobble Creek State School in 1909. Interestingly, it was sometimes written as Cobble Creek State School. The school closed in 1954.

In 1919, the Dayboro railway line extended to Kobble Creek. The Kobble railway station opened. The line eventually reached Dayboro in 1920. Kobble Creek was officially named and bounded as a locality in June 2009. Before that, it was part of the Samsonvale district.

In 2021, Kobble Creek had a population of 654 people. Kobble Creek is situated along Mount Samson Road. It lies south of Dayboro. It is approximately 45 kilometers northwest of Brisbane’s central business district.

The western part of Kobble Creek is mountainous. It is part of the D’Aguilar National Park. The park extends into other localities. The eastern part of Kobble Creek features rural residential areas. There is grazing on native vegetation. Some cropping also occurs.

Kobble Creek itself forms part of the catchment area for Lake Samsonvale. This lake is a crucial water supplier to the metropolitan region.
