A small sign pointing down a forested path caught my attention. The descent was a bit daunting, especially on a motorbike. But the view that unfolded at the bottom was breathtaking. Ko Nui is a true haven. Its clear, turquoise waters and tranquil atmosphere offer a stark contrast to the more populated beaches of Phuket. Ko Nui is ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and diving. You can even try your hand at fishing. Or simply relax and soak in the serenity. The beach is bordered by grassy cliffs and faces a smaller island called Ko Kaeo Noi. Ko Kaeo Noi, formed from coral, offers excellent snorkeling and diving opportunities. Keep in mind that the Tsunami in 2004 caused significant damage to the coral. If you’re feeling adventurous, kayaks are available to explore the surrounding waters. Ko Nui has a single bar serving food and drinks. There are no shops or accommodations, adding to its unspoiled charm. An entry fee of 250 Baht per adult grants you access to a day bed, umbrella, and a drink. While the fee might seem unusual, it likely contributes to preserving Ko Nui’s pristine beauty. This hidden gem remains relatively unknown to tourists. Even during peak season, Ko Nui offers a refreshing escape from the crowds. There are no speedboats or jet skis to disturb the peace. Just the gentle lapping of waves and the rustling of leaves in the breeze. A word of caution: the dirt road leading to Ko Nui can be treacherous during monsoon season. Be careful if you visit during this time. Ko Nui remains one of Phuket’s best-kept secrets. A visit promises a blissful day on a quiet beach. It’s the perfect place to disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature.
