In 1890, the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul embarked on a mission of mercy. They acquired the grounds of a former Franciscan monastery brewery. Their goal was simple yet profound: to create a haven for those in need. This haven would eventually blossom into what we know today as Klinik Vincentinum. Klinik Vincentinum stands as a testament to their unwavering dedication. The Sisters established St. Vinzenz Pensionat, a retirement home, in 1892. Just a few years later, in 1903, Klinik Vincentinum opened its doors as a 50-bed hospital. It specialized in ophthalmology, surgery, gynecology, and ENT. Klinik Vincentinum became a beacon of hope during times of turmoil. It served as a military hospital during World War I and World War II. The Klinik Vincentinum continued to evolve throughout the 20th century. It expanded its facilities and services. In 1996, the original building was replaced with a modern structure. The Sisters’ legacy continued until 2017. They then passed the torch to the Artemed Klinikverbund. This ensured the Klinik Vincentinum could thrive. Even today, Klinik Vincentinum continues to grow and adapt. A new wing is currently under construction. This will house the hospital administration and 55 additional beds. A new chapel is also planned. Klinik Vincentinum isn’t just a hospital. It is a symbol of compassion and resilience, where healing and hope intertwine. The spirit of the Sisters of Charity lives on. It continues to inspire the dedicated staff. It reminds us that “Love is action”.
