A brand new building rose from the ashes of the old, a phoenix of education. This modern structure, part of a £134m Scottish Government investment, replaced the previous 36-year-old building. The new Kirkintilloch High School opened its doors on August 19, 2009, a little later than planned due to a fire in 2008. But from adversity came progress. This school has witnessed not only the growth of its students but also the growth of the town around it. Author Andrew Crumey, musician Billy Rankin, and footballers James Scott and Gregg Wylde all once walked these halls.
