This unassuming white church, nestled amidst greenery, has been the spiritual home of Augsburg’s Greek Orthodox community since 2002. The Kirchengemeinde Hl. Panteleimon, named after the patron saint of soldiers and physicians, Saint Panteleimon, replaced the former American soldiers’ Gospel Church. For 37 years prior, the congregation sought refuge in other Augsburg churches, longing for a dedicated space. Today, the Kirchengemeinde Hl. Panteleimon is more than just a building. It is the heart of a vibrant community. The spacious grounds surrounding the church provide ample space for gatherings. Imagine the lively scene after Sunday service, with the aroma of coffee mingling with the sweet scent of Kuchen. The air fills with laughter and conversation as the community connects. The vibrant traditions of the Greek Orthodox faith come alive here. Picture the colorful costumes of the Folklore dance group swirling across the green. Their rhythmic steps echo the deep-rooted heritage of the community. Beyond the main sanctuary lies a welcoming community hall. There is also a smaller chapel dedicated to Saints Nikolaus, Raphael, and Irini. This intimate space offers a quiet haven for reflection and prayer. The Kirchengemeinde Hl. Panteleimon serves a congregation of approximately 2,000 members in Augsburg, with an additional 4,000 in the surrounding area. Led by Archpriest Christos Noulas, the community thrives on the shared experience of faith. Archpriest Noulas, deeply rooted in his Augsburg community, regularly travels to Ulm and beyond to minister to his dispersed flock. Every Sunday, from 8:00 to 10:15 am, the church resounds with the melodies of the Greek Orthodox liturgy. Services are primarily conducted in Greek, with German occasionally used for special occasions like weddings. The Kirchengemeinde Hl. Panteleimon celebrates its patron saint with a grand festival on July 27th. This is a time of joyous celebration, honoring the All-Merciful Saint Panteleimon. The Kirchengemeinde Hl.
