Kimihurura Assemblies of God

Standing proudly, right here, is the Kimihurura Assemblies of God, a place where faith and fellowship intertwine, drawing people together. Founded in 1990, only a few years before the tragic genocide, it’s a beacon of hope that speaks to the resilient spirit of the Rwandan people. This church was born in the midst of darkness, a time when fear and discrimination threatened to tear the very fabric of society apart. It was a time when the government actively discouraged the formation of new churches, making it hard to gather. Yet, a determined group of believers, led by Bishop Gatabazi, refused to be silenced. With unwavering commitment they started holding weekly bible studies and prayer meetings in their homes. As their numbers grew, their faith flourished, and they witnessed miracles like healing and restoration. In 1993, their persistence paid off. They officially registered the church. The Kimihurura Assemblies of God became a symbol of resilience and unity. It offered a place of refuge amidst the turmoil and a testament to the power of faith in overcoming adversity. During the genocide, the church served as a source of comfort and support for those affected. Although it had only twelve branches across the country at the time, it stood strong, a lighthouse in the storm, providing a safe haven for those in need. Today, with 179 branches across Rwanda, the Kimihurura Assemblies of God continues to inspire and empower its community. It embodies the spirit of hope, forgiveness, and reconciliation. It is a place where people of all backgrounds gather to celebrate their faith and find strength in each other.
